Strength in our Story: Embracing Healing through Personal and Community Expression The stunning film Liyana amplifies the healing power of storytelling in the lives of children who have been impacted by trauma and loss. Building from this narrative, we welcome you to join the discussion with our panel of mental health practitioners, language specialist and community health advocates to explore the impact of past and present traumas on the lives of children and communities of color. Especially emphasizing the intersectionality of race, everyday stressors and a range of traumas, together we will share about the power of story and personal expression as a means to both assess our ability to navigate the many systems that have historically marginalized communities of color, as well as focus on the strengths that storytelling and expressive arts cultivate particularly through non-western forms or frameworks for healing.
