This offering is a combination of physical movement and Sound Therapy. This is a gentle trauma informed movement practice that is grounded in stress management and self-esteem empowerment. Combining Hatha Yoga and Sound healing is a creative and immersive way to practice movement meditation and energy work. |
Marlene Boyette has worked in the field of education for over 15 years and as a Trauma-Informed, healing-focused wellness practitioner for 10 years, offering yoga, meditation / mindfulness and sound healing to folks of all ages, identities and abilities.
Currently, Marlene teaches Yoga, Mindfulness & Meditation full time at The Advent School, an elementary school in Boston’s Beacon Hill whose mission is rooted in social justice. Marlene is a founding member of Advent’s Social Justice Task Force and co-facilitates the School’s first Students of Color Affinity Group. Additionally, she is in service to Boston and surrounding communities, offering countless opportunities for folks to be held through the practices of yoga and sound healing. Marlene understands how mindfulness, movement, rest and specific approaches to healing and care (self care and community care) can change the structure of the brain, and therefore address patterns rooted in stress and trauma. She founded Leela Yoga + Wellness in an effort to incorporate healing, joyfulness, play and intentional rest into yoga and wellness frameworks, allowing her to align with countless organizations and institutions. Marlene creates safe, welcoming spaces for all and is recognized locally and nationally by The Boston Globe, Getaway House, and Lululemon for her contributions and dedication to community, equity, social justice, and wellness. |
