Save the Date, and Join Us for our 1st Annual Black Women's Health & Wellness Legislative Advocacy Day spotlighting the work of The Wellness Collaborative Inc. and Mindful + Melanated, on Monday, February 13, 2023, from 11:00 am - 2:30 pm in the Great Hall of Flags at the State House. With a moderated Panel Discussion, an opportunity to present relative bills currently on the docket, and a Q & A from attendees, the event promises to be informative, provide resources and allow the community's voices to be heard.

Joining us as our Legislative Guest Panelist during the Q & A segment of our program are Senator Liz Miranda, Senator Lydia Edwards, Representative Brandy Fluker-Oakley, and Representative Chynah Tyler, the only 4 (self-identified) Black women out of 13 total women of color (as identified by the MA Caucus of Women Legislators) holding elected offices here in the MA State House, standing proud as role models and advocates not only for little black & brown girls but for ALL women, especially for women of color.

The key objectives we will be focusing on for this event are as follows:

  • The central role of behavioral mental health in ALL issues of health/wellness for black and brown women.

  • The importance of community voice in understanding how to access services and improve well-being.

  • The importance of working with our policymakers (elected officials) in the process.

  • Provide an opportunity for the community to engage in real-time conversations with panelists, practitioners, and elected officials.
